Exhibition of Meteorological and Hydrological Instruments and Equipment

The 2011 edition of Meteohydex, the Exhibition of Meteorological and Hydrological Instruments and Equipment, took place from 23rd to 25th May 2011 at the International Conference Centre of Geneva (CICG).

Geneva Palexpo was appointed by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) for the organisation of Meteohydex 2011 which took place in conjunction with the 16th World Meteorological Congress which was in session at the CICG from 16th May to
1st June 2011.

Meteohydex 2011 review

This 2011 edition brought together 88 exhibitors from 21 countries worldwide (China, Russia, Hong Kong, US, Malaysia, France, India, Japan, Slovakia, Norway, Germany, Canada, Austria, Finland, Switzerland, etc.) and 734 delegates from 179 different nationalities who all converged to this key event. In addition, 205 trade visitors came especially to see the latest technologies exhibited at Meteohydex.

For the first time, Meteohydex was held during the second week of the World Meteorological Congress instead of the first week as in the past editions. The exhibition was spread over 3 different levels of the CICG’s building in order to meet the demand of
exhibition space.

A questionnaire was submitted to the exhibitors at the end of the exhibition in order to evaluate their satisfaction.
Amongst the 70% of the exhibitors who answered the survey, 85% of them were very or rather satisfied with the general organisation of Meteohydex.
In spite of the constraints of the conference location and the limited exhibition space, most of the exhibitors had a chance to present their equipment to some of the High Commissioner Representatives present for the Congress. Exhibitors confirmed to have been impressed by the quality of the delegates. They did not expect to receive the visit of important personalities such as Ministers from some of the 179 represented countries.
